German-born nature and wildlife photographer, Melissa Schaefer, was fascinated by polar bears and the arctic since childhood. This fascination has led her to spending large swaths of time in Svalbard–a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic. She has also co-authored the book, Polar Tales, on the Arctic and climate change.
