02. Article pick: 5 Facts About Bumble Bees—and How To Help Them

They don’t produce honey like the honeybee, but bumble bees are very important pollinators of wild flowering plants and agricultural crops. In fact, managed bumble bee hives have become big business in the last 20 years as agricultural demand for bumble bee-pollinated produce (such as berries) has skyrocketed.

Loss of bumble bees can have far-ranging ecological consequences, and unfortunately several bumble bee species are rapidly declining. This is a quick yet enlightening read about these fascinating insects and how we can help restore them.

03. Book pick: Striped Animals

This great children’s book highlights many of the world’s striped animals including tigers, chipmunks, bees, skunks and more, explaining why they were born with stripes, how stripes help them survive and how it can be a warning for people and other wildlife. The easy language and vibrant pictures throughout make it a great read for kiddos!

04. Video pick: North America's most venomous snake

Red touch black, safe for Jack. Red touches yellow, kills a fellow.

This coral snake mnemonic varies from person to person, but the general premise is the same. Get up close and personal with Life's Wild Adventures as they come across one in the wild.

05. Quote of the Week:

“There is nothing like the thrill of walking through the jungle looking for a tiger and knowing they could be watching you already.”
