01. Photographer pick: Ralph Lightman

Lightman is not only on a mission to share his astounding images of underwater creatures but also to educate through his photography. His captions share fun facts about the animal or place the photo was taken — many of which may surprise you! He also gets up close and personal with sharks and other sea creatures most generally stay away from.

He is currently building a website, but for now give him a follow at @lightmanphotographer.

02. Article pick: ‘Wondering About Winter Fly Fishing? Here’s an Overview’

For all our fisher-people out there itching to get back out on the water — don’t let the cold stop you. Even in freezing temps there’s plenty out there to catch, and this article serves as a great guide to get you back to doing what you love.

03. Book pick: ‘Into the Planet: My Life as a Cave Diver’

Did you know that more people have died exploring underwater caves than climbing Mount Everest? We also know way more about deep space than we do about life under our Earth's water. Author Jill Heinerth is the first person in history to dive deep into an Antarctic iceberg and has descended farther into the inner depths of our planet than any other woman. "Into the Planet" will take you into the split-second decisions that determine whether a diver makes it back to safety, the prejudices that prevent women from pursuing careers underwater, and Heinerth's endeavor to recover a fallen friend’s body from the confines of a cave.

The book is available on Thriftbooks and Amazon.

04. Audio pick: ‘Manatee Moment’

This 7-minute podcast episode is by Meet the Ocean, a nonprofit series dedicated to educating the public by sharing the saltwater stories of our planet. This one in particular is the story of Brett Monroe Garner, who had a life-changing encounter with one of these gentle giants down in the Carribean.
