01. Photographer pick: Huzaifa Sd

Huzaifa Sd bought his first camera just five months ago, when the pandemic was making life slow and he was desperately seeking a change. His curiosity was sparked after watching YouTube channels about photography, so he finally listened to his gut and started snapping his own photos. After being stuck in a rut for quite some time, Sd now finds much joy and purpose through photography.

02. Article pick: 'Five Things You Didn't Know About the North Pole'

The North Pole, not to be confused with the city of North Pole where many believe Santa Clause lives, is the northernmost point of the Earth found in the Arctic Ocean on constantly shifting pieces of sea ice. Check out this article to learn some fascinating facts about this wondrous place where few have dared to go.

"The Right to Be Cold" by Sheila Watt-Cloutier.

03. Book pick: 'The Right to Be Cold'

“The Right to Be Cold” is a memoir written by Sheila Watt-Cloutier, an Indigenous environmental advocate, about growing up in the traditional ice-based hunting culture of an Inuit community in Nunavik, Canada, and eventually taking a stand against climate change after seeing her native land giving in to the warming of the planet. The book is very inspirational and will take you places you probably didn't even know existed.

The book can be purchased online at Thriftbooks and Amazon

04. Audio pick: 30 for 30: 'On the Ice'

When it comes to cold weather adventure and well-crafted stories, “On the Ice” gets a 10/10. Part of ESPN’s “30 for 30” podcast series, the episode shares the story of the brave women who led the first all-female trek to the North Pole 20 years ago. Inspirational, suspenseful and heartbreaking, the story follows the full journey from the perspective of several of the participants, exhibiting the pure beauty of the top of the Earth as well as how deadly — and freezing — it can be.

The episode is 42 minutes but goes by fast. Give it a listen here or on Spotify!
