01. Photographer pick: Chris Cosentino
“When I was younger I used to dream of the mountains. Now I’m older and see them everyday I still dream of the mountains.”
— Chris Cosentino
Fittingly called The Elevation Adventures, Chris Cosentino captures magnificent images by exploring the mountain regions of his two favorite places — Colorado and Hawaii. Currently based out of Northern Colorado, Cosentino carries a deep love for the Rocky Mountains, and doesn’t hold back when sharing the striking scenes of his hiking adventures through Rocky Mountain National Park.

02. Article pick 1: ‘The Escapism Of Wild Camping And A Guide’
“Wild camping” is a blanket term that describes just about any type of camping outside the boundaries of a regular campsite. While remote, peaceful, and a great way to connect with nature, camping in the deep wilderness can of course have its drawbacks.
Paul Steele uses personal anecdotes and experiences to share the joys of this — what many would call — intimidating type of camping. He also delves into important rules and regulations (based out of the UK, but noteworthy for all) as well as gear and tips to help adventurers, landowners, and the surrounding wildlife enjoy themselves.
"Devotions" by Mary Oliver.
03. Book pick: ‘Devotions’
We were feeling a little artsy this week and spent some time with nature from a creative perspective. Arranged by Mary Oliver herself just before she passed away, "Devotions" is a poetry collection of some of Oliver's most sought after work, showcasing the poet at her “edifying best.”
Oliver is known for her clear and sentimental observances of animals and the natural world. Every poem in this book offers a soothing reminder to go beyond the barriers of speech to better connect with yourself, nature, and all beings around you.
While there are way too many good ones to name from the collection, one of our favorites is “Wild Geese.” Give it a quick read here.

04. Article pick 2: ‘Pikas, Ground Squirrels and Marmots – High Altitude Friends’
Another pick from BaldHiker, this 5-minute read by Sharon Mitchler takes you beyond the treetops to introduce some little-known creatures that prefer the thin air. Pikas, Columbian ground squirrels and hoary marmots naturally blend into their surroundings, making them difficult to spot. Read about each in detail and learn tips and tricks on how to best seek out these (super cute) critters on your next trek into the alpines.
