01. Photographer pick: Reiner Hofer

Based in Germany, Bavaria, landscape and nature photographer Reiner Hofer makes his way all around Europe capturing some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Hofer’s vast portfolio of photographs feature everything from majestic views of frozen lakes and giant waterfalls in Germany and Iceland to astonishingly close shots of horses and Scottish woolly cows in the hills of the U.K. He has an artistic eye that’s very unique — instead of capturing the vibrant, sunny days people often associate with “beauty” in the outdoors, his photos offer darker, gloomy views of these wondrous landscapes, and are just as breathtaking.

Hofer is an admin at @landscape_tribe and an ambassador of @worldShares. To see more of his photos check him out on Instagram at @reiner_hofer

02. Article pick: 'A Week Alone in the Boundary Waters Wilderness'

As an environmental activist, humanitarian and adventurer, Rob Greenfield is striving to “lead the way” to a more sustainable world and is eager to share his activity. In his blog post “A Week Alone in the Boundary Waters Wilderness” he logs his week-long expedition of paddling into the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota, all alone, in effort to find a greater connection with nature. His experience might not be what you would expect.

His website is full of great adventure content — check out more at robgreenfield.org

Steve McCurry explores the relationship between humans and animals in his photobook, "Animals."

03. Book pick: 'Animals'

You may know of Steve McCurry from his famous photo, “Afghan Girl,” which has often appeared on the cover of National Geographic. This 9.4-by-13.1-inch photobook is a magnificent collection of McCurry’s favorite shots — taken from Asia to South America, the United States to Europe — that explore the relationship between humans and animals. The 252 pages allow us to discover an appreciation for pretty much every animal across the animal kingdom through a very talented, creative lens.
